Review #1,683: Kilo "Too Cold To Be A Hot Boy"

Reviewed on 3.13.2017 (Review #1,683)

Happy 47th day in a row of reviewin’ CDs & only 13 more dayz till my dream comes true!! How about a 6th review today, before tha two feet of snowstorm emerges? Here goes my review fa Kilo Too Cold To Be A Hot Boy, released in 1998 on Act Bad Records & was produced by DJ Money Fresh! Start Time: 8:21 PM | End Time: 8:57 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro: Kilo Is Ready
>>> Nice lil’ intro ta get thangz “ready,” ya dig? My Rating: N/A

02. “Get In Line” feat. DJ Money Fresh
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ bounce vibe, here; dope hook and 1st verse, here… Diggin’ this 2nd verse, here, wit tha “actin’ bad” shit… This seems kinda long fa a bounce track, so tha rest of this iz kinda draggin’… I can’t say anythang’s bad but it’s ehh… My Rating: 3.7

03. The Difference (Skit)
>>> Sounds like a debate, here… Sucks how people try and ruin shit fa “black people.” I’m glad I got they backs, tho, and will always have their back! My Rating: N/A

04. “Who Dat Call The Police”
>>> Sounds nice, here; good shit wit tha intro… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s nice fa a bounce vibe, here… Tha whole entire joint’s pretty nice, here; can’t complain… My Rating: 3.8

05. “Dragg ‘Em”
>>> Sounds pretty nice, here; a lil’ more on tha gangsta tip than tha previous bouncy tracks… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty grimy, here, wit tha content and shit! “I’m draggin’ niggaz and bitches and bitches and niggaz into that water!” Fuckin’ shit’s grimy, on tha hook! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice, here, as it’s dope and goes right into tha next hook! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse and you got tha grimy shit on lock, here… I like how tha water sounds at tha end, there… My Rating: 4.2

06. “Shak’en That Ass”
>>> Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice, here; good shit… Hearin’ all these dances and they’re pretty tight; can’t deny ‘em… This joint kinda long but ehh, we’re bouncin’, lol! My Rating: 3.6

07. “Gangster Poetry”
>>> Sounds decent, here, fa tha long intro and beat… Or, iz this meant ta be a spoken word-type track? It sounds okay, but it’s really destroyin’ tha flow of tha CD, here… My Rating: 2.4

½time: Only a 3.5-rated CD, currently… Most of this iz decent; wasn’t diggin’ tha spoken word shit, tho…

08. “Who Dat Call The Police (Money Fresh Mix)”
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ mix; can’t complain… My Rating: 3.7

09. “Too Cold To Be A Hot Boy”
>>> I’m diggin’ how you sound on this hook, here; dope shit! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds nice wit this grimy-soundin’ vocal you got goin’ on, here… Lol @ tha reference you made ta “Ice Ice Baby”… Tha rest of this ain’t that bad; a lil’ repetitive, but not bad… My Rating: 3.9

10. “Psycho” feat. G-Man & Deedy Girl
>>> A slow vibe but a decent hook, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not bad, here… Tha rest of this ain’t bad but it’s kinda boring… My Rating: 3.3

11. “Out There In Them Streets”
>>> Almost thought it was on tha spoken word-type shit, here… Sounds okay, overall; decent beat and decent lil’ acapella… My Rating: 3.5

12. “Who Dat Call The Police (Instrumental)”
See #4 fa tha review…

13. “Dragg ‘Em (Instrumental)”
See #5 fa tha review…

14. “Get In Line (Instrumental)”
See #2 fa tha review…

15. “Too Cold To Be A Hot Boy (Instrumental)”
See #9 fa tha review…

Overall: This CD coulda been betta… Sometimes, there were too many bounce vibes; sometimes, some of tha rhymes weren’t all there… Either way, glad I got ta review this!
