Review #1,668: D'Yo "Southside Hotboy Pump'n Dat Fyr" Review

Reviewed on 3.04.2017 (Review #1,668)

Now, it’s 38 dayz in a row reviewin’!! Here goes my next one: D’Yo Southside Hotboy Pump’n Dat Fyre, released in 1998 on Qisma Records! Start Time: 2:03 AM | End Time: 2:59 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Bounce” feat. B-Lo & Da Ganksta
>>> Sounds good and funky wit this southern hook/beat; good shit! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s nice, as we’re keepin’ it goin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice, too; good shit… And, a 3rd verse, here, reppin’ fa da 5-0-4 as much as possible! Even got a 4th verse, too, soundin’ pretty nice, as well… My Rating: 4.2

02. “Anyway”
>>> Sounds like a smooth lil’ R&B track, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s decent… I’ono, with tha hook, it seems like I gon lose interest in this? And, we got tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ aight, as well… And, a 3rd verse, here, soundin’ decent… I’ono, but I thought I’d like this less…; I guess it got lucky? My Rating: 3.0

03. Lil’ Playa (Interlude)
>>> Diggin’ how this sounds with tha OutKast track in tha background, with tha eerie voice! My Rating: N/A

04. “Slanging Dem Thangs”
>>> Sounds like a good 1st verse, here, with a dry-soundin’ beat… At least tha dry-soundin’ beat has that smooth, ‘90s OutKast feel to it, like tha interlude I just heard… And, tha 2nd verse kicks off wit a singin’ vibe, here, like that old OutKast hook or somethin’… Now, some rappin’, soundin’ pretty nice… With tha rest of this, it’s a long outro and it flows over nicely… My Rating: 3.8

05. “Cherry Hill”
4:33 fa an interlude? >>> Sounds almost like it gon be a track or somethin’… I’m diggin’ tha really slow vibe, here, if it’s just an inter—oh, I hear tha singin’ and it sounds like a straight-up R&B track… Oh wait, tha tracks weren’t separated? Oh, boy… I’ono, but I’ll just consider this “Cherry Hill”… Overall, nice lil’ slow song… My Rating: 3.2

06. Smoke Away (Interlude)
>>> Now, this tha interlude! Oh, it sounds great! I can relate to it with edibles, too! Yesterday was a perfect example!! Nice job wit tha interlude, here… My Rating: N/A

07. “Duzheknow ‘Bout Me”
>>> More on tha R&B tip, once again… Sounds like a decent 1st verse, here, with a slow beat… Sounds like a nice lil’ hook, too… My Rating: 3.3

08. Trippin’ On Sunday (Interlude)
>>> Lol, can’t oversleep! Like I said yesterday, “I’ono even know what dat iz!” But, nice lil’ interlude, here… My Rating: N/A

½time: More on tha R&B side than rap, here, so I’ono… Some of tha slow vibes are nice, but just some of ‘em… A 3.5-rated CD, here…

09. “Justa Groove”
>>> Anotha slow vibe, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s some rappin’, here, soundin’ pretty nice… Even tho this CD ain’t that long, I feel like it’s takin’ a million years to finish… My Rating: 3.1

10. “Only You”
>>> Sounds decent, here, fa anotha R&B track… Tha hook ain’t too bad, as well… My Rating: 2.3

11. “Love Is The Answer”
>>> I’ono, but why did I walk into an R&B vibe fa this whole entire CD? I review rap CDs!! Just ‘cause tha 1st track on here was rap and actually had features, don’t mean that I gotta deal with a whole entire R&B CD! Tha female’s not bad but where’d she come from? I don’t really need to say anything about this… My Rating: 1.2

12. “Bounce (Remix)” feat. B-Lo & Da Ganksta
>>> Sounds good, finally—oh, it’s just a remix to tha rap song on here! Still sounds nice, just like tha original “Bounce”! My Rating: 4.2

13. “The Closer I Get To You”
>>> More female R&B shit, here; I’ll leave it at that! My Rating: 1.4

14. “Sneaksome”
>>> Last actual track on here and it’s an R&B one… Tha hook’s whateva; my feedback’s tha same fa err-thang, here… My Rating: 1.6

15. “Momma Carried The Load (Interlude)”
>>> Almost sounds like a lil’ bit of rappin’, but it’s still nice fa an interlude… Ehh, I’ll consider this a track! My Rating: 3.4

16. Thank You
>>> A slow outro, here… My Rating: N/A

Overall: I ain’t expect this ta be an R&B CD… I’ono, but I guess there was a touch of rap in it that made me wanna put it in my marathon of Louisiana CDs… Either way, yeah, I think you can tell how this CD went…
